The visual design of the live-action footage was intended to look like "a living, walk-through painting," a visual concept Bakshi had long wanted to achieve. The film's sets were based upon enlargements of designer Barry Jackson's paintings. The animation was strongly influenced by Fleischer Studios (whose cartoons were released by Paramount in the 1930s and 1940s) and Terrytoons (where Bakshi once worked, and whose Mighty Mouse character was also adapted into a series by Bakshi).[5] The artwork by the character Jack Deebs was drawn by underground comix artist Spain Rodriguez.[12]

Initially, it didn't seem like these would be difficult or controversial requests. This basic index data, just names and dates of people who were born or died in the state, were explicitly declared to be open to the public under Missouri state law, not restricted. The information was already in text format, stored in a big state database. DHSS had provided small subsets of the same kind of data to many other requesters before, including journalists, for decades.

But if that happened, it would also mean that DHSS probably wouldn't be able to make any more money selling subsets of that same data over and over in future years, which was revenue that normally would have gone right back into their agency budget.

In 2019 the Spartans finished second in the SSC with a 24-9 overall record and 16-4 conference record. Tampa defeated Alabama-Huntsville in the first round of the NCAA South Regional, before losing to Barry in five sets, 3-2. UT was dominant at home with a 13-1 record in the Martinez Center. Katie McKiel earned first-team AVCA All-South Region and second-team AVCA NCAA All-American honors. McKiel was named the SSC Player of the Year for 2019.
